Für Marcel Schrötter wurde der Samstag beim Saisonfinale in Jerez de la Frontera zu einer Achterbahnfahrt. Nach einer starken Superpole musste er seine Podiumschancen durch einen frühen Rennsturz aufgeben.

Trotz des enttäuschenden Ergebnisses am Ende des Tages ist Marcel Schrötter schon wieder gut gelaunt und hat seinen Fokus längst auf das letzte Rennen der Saison am morgigen Sonntag gerichtet. Der 30-jährige Deutsche hatte am Vormittag den dritten Startplatz erobert, von dem aus er auch in das Rennen am Nachmittag bei schönem Wetter gut startete.

In der ersten Kurve nach dem Start verteidigte er seine Position und heftete sich sofort an das Hinterrad des Italieners Federico Caricasulo. In der fünften Runde wollte Schrötter seinen Vordermann in Kurve sechs überholen, kam aber leicht von der Ideallinie ab und stürzte. Da es ein harmloser Sturz war, sprang Schrötter sofort wieder auf seine MV Agusta F3 und konnte das Rennen fortsetzen. Mehr als Platz 15 im Ziel war jedoch nicht möglich.

Die FIM Supersport World Championship 2023 wird morgen mit dem zweiten Rennen des Wochenendes abgeschlossen. Startzeit ist 12:30 Uhr.

"Alles in allem war es ein positiver Tag, der mit einer starken Superpole begann, in der ich es in die erste Startreihe schaffte. Natürlich sind der Sturz und das Ergebnis nicht sehr erfreulich. Aber meine Leistung am Vormittag hat das wettgemacht, denn das Qualifying war in diesem Jahr immer unsere Schwierigkeit. Dann habe ich mich auch in den ersten Runden im Rennen sehr gut gefühlt und war guter Dinge, bis der Sturz kam. Das war sehr bitter. Ich denke, wir hätten heute auf jeden Fall um einen Podiumsplatz kämpfen können. Diese Chance wegzuwerfen, ist natürlich sehr enttäuschend. Aber das Schöne an dieser Meisterschaft ist, dass wir morgen mit dem zweiten Rennen eine weitere Gelegenheit haben, uns von unserer stärksten Seite zu zeigen. Ich bin topmotiviert, diesen Fehler sofort wieder gut zu machen und morgen auf dem Podium zu stehen, um die Saison mit einem ordentlichen Ergebnis abzuschliessen."

EN: Crash costs podium finish

For Marcel Schrötter, Saturday at the season’s finale in Jerez de la Frontera turned into a rollercoaster ride. After a strong Superpole he had to abandon his justified hopes for a podium finish due to an early fall in the race.

Despite the disappointing result at the end of the day, Marcel Schrötter is already in a good mood again and has since long turned his focus to the final race of the season tomorrow, Sunday. The 30-year-old German rider had taken third place on the grid this morning, from which he also got off to a good start into the first race in the afternoon in fine weather.

In the turn one after the start, he defended his position and immediately attached himself to the rear of Italian Federico Caricasulo. On lap five, Schrötter wanted to pass Caricasulo in turn six, but went slightly off the racing line and crashed. As it was a harmless fall so, Schrötter immediately jumped back on his MV Agusta F3 and was able to continue the race. However, more than 15th place at the line was not possible.

The 2023 FIM Supersport World Championship will be concluded tomorrow with the second race of the weekend. The lights will go out at 12:30pm.

"All in all, it was a positive day, which started with a strong Superpole in which I made it onto the front row of the starting grid. Of course, the crash and the result are not very pleasing. But my performance in the morning made up for it because qualifying has always been our difficulty this year. Then I also felt very good in the first laps in the race and was in good spirits until the crash came. That was very bitter. I think we definitely could have fought for a podium finish today. To throw away this chance is of course very disappointing. But the nice thing about this championship is that tomorrow, with the second race, we have another opportunity to show ourselves from our strongest side. I am top motivated to make up for this mistake right away and end up on the podium tomorrow to finish the season with a decent result."
