Marcel Schrötter und sein italienisches WorldSSP-Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse beendeten ihre diesjährigen Rennstreckenaktivitäten mit einem privaten Test in Südportugal, um wichtige Informationen für ihre Hausaufgaben in der Winterpause zu sammeln.

Der Abstecher wenige Tage nach dem Saisonfinale am vergangenen Wochenende im südspanischen Jerez de la Frontera war für Marcel Schrötter und sein Team die perfekte Gelegenheit, das gesamte Team-Equipment und -Personal zum fast 400 Kilometer entfernten Autódromo Internacional do Algarve im Hinterland von Portimao zu bringen, auch wenn sie sich die Strecke dort an diesem Wochenende mit vielen Teilnehmern eines Track-Day-Events teilen mussten.

Leider wurden Schrötter und sein Team bei ihrer Ankunft von unfreundlichem Wetter empfangen, was sich zunächst sehr ungünstig auswirkte. Als sich die Bedingungen jedoch verbesserten, konnten schließlich wertvolle Informationen gewonnen werden.

"Leider wurde unser Test in Portimao durch das Wetter beeinträchtigt. Es begann am Donnerstagnachmittag mit nur zwei Runden. Am Freitag hatte sich das Wetter ein wenig gebessert. Es gab drei Sessions, die wir ganz gut nutzen konnten, und auch heute war es bis 14:00 Uhr okay und wir konnten in jeder der 20-minütigen Sessions richtig fahren. Für ein paar grössere Dinge konnten wir wertvolle Daten sammeln, das war okay. Für andere Bereiche war es aber schwieriger, weil die Bedingungen nie gut genug waren. Lange Zeit gab es viele feuchte Stellen im Verlauf einer Runde, und die Rundenzeiten waren auch viel zu weit vom Renntrimm entfernt. So gesehen, war es ein schwieriger Test. Dennoch konnten wir einige wichtige und gute Informationen sammeln. Bei anderen Dingen sind wir uns nicht ganz sicher, und hoffentlich werden wir die richtigen Entscheidungen treffen. Wichtig war auch, dass es keine Zwischenfälle gab, alles blieb unversehrt. Deshalb hoffe ich, dass die Informationen, die wir gesammelt haben, sich im nächsten Jahr positiv auswirken werden. Im Moment freue ich mich schon auf die ersten richtigen Tests für die neue Saison im Januar."

EN: Portimao test provides revealing information

Marcel Schrötter and his Italian WorldSSP team MV Agusta Reparto Corse concluded this year's on-track activities with a private test in southern Portugal to gather important information for their homework during the winter break.

The detour a few days after the season’s finale last weekend in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain was the perfect opportunity for Marcel Schrötter and his team to take all the team’s equipment and staff to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in the hilly outback of Portimao, less than 400 kilometres from Jerez, even though they had to share the track there this weekend with many participants in a track day event.

Unfortunately, Schrötter and his team were greeted by unfriendly weather on their arrival, which initially had a very unfavourable effect. However, as the conditions improved, valuable information still had been obtained finally.

"Unfortunately, our test in Portimao was affected by the weather. It started on Thursday afternoon with only two laps. The weather improved a bit on Friday. There were three sessions that we were able to use quite well, and today was also okay until 14:00 and we were able to ride properly in each of the 20-minute sessions. We were able to collect valuable data for some of the bigger things, which was okay. But for other areas it was more difficult because the conditions were never good enough. For a long time, there were a lot of damp patches during a lap and the lap times were also far too far away from race trim. From that point of view, it was a difficult test. Nevertheless, we were able to gather some important and good information. We are not quite sure about other things and hopefully we will make the right decisions. It was also important that there were no incidents, everything remained intact. I therefore hope that the information we have gathered will have a positive effect next year. At the moment, I am already looking forward to the first proper tests after the break for the new season in January."
