#IDNWorldSBK: Starker Vierter am Freitag in Mandalika
Marcel Schrötter fuhr zum Auftakt des zweiten Rennwochenendes auf der indonesischen Insel Lombok in beiden freien Trainings auf Augenhöhe mit der absoluten Spitze der hart umkämpften Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft.
WorldSSP-Rookie Marcel Schrötter erwischte beim zweiten Event der Saison auf dem Mandalika International Street Circuit einen Start nach seinem Geschmack. Bei noch schmutzigen Streckenbedingungen in der ersten Session des Tages belegte der 30-jährige MV Agusta-Pilot einen starken vierten Platz. Doch damit nicht genug, denn am Nachmittag, als sich die Strecke bereits in deutlich besserem Zustand befand, war Schrötter sogar kurz davor, die Tagesbestzeit zu fahren. Am Ende landete er wieder auf dem vierten Platz, aber nur hauchdünne 0,079 Sekunden hinter dem WM-Führenden Nicola Bulega, der am vergangenen Wochenende in Australien beide Rennen gewann.
Am Samstag steht wie gewohnt die Superpole um 09:55 Uhr Ortszeit (02:55 Uhr MEZ) auf dem Programm, die über die Startaufstellung entscheidet, sowie das erste Rennen des Wochenendes mit einer Startzeit um 14:00 Uhr Ortszeit (05:00 Uhr MEZ). "Ich bin mehr als zufrieden mit diesem Start ins Wochenende und gleichzeitig erleichtert, nachdem ich vorher etwas verunsichert war. Ich habe mich an das Moto2-Wochenende vor einem Jahr erinnert. Damals hatten wir mit einigen Schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen, deshalb wusste ich nicht, wie ich dieses Mal zurechtkommen würde. Aber wir wussten auch, was das Problem war. Trotzdem war es gut, heute in beiden Sessions vorne zu sein und die Lücke zur absoluten Spitze ein wenig zu schliessen. Jetzt müssen wir so weitermachen, und hoffentlich können wir diese Leistung morgen in der Superpole umsetzen und dann ein gutes und konstantes Rennen fahren. Wenn uns das gelingt, dann denke ich, haben wir eine gute Chance, vorne ein Wörtchen mitzureden."
🇬🇧: Strong start with fourth place on Friday in Mandalika
To the start of the second race weekend at the Indonesian island of Lombok, Marcel Schrötter was on par with the top guys of the highly competitive Supersport World Championship in both free practice sessions.
WorldSSP rookie Marcel Schrötter got a start to his liking at the second event of the season at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. With the track’s conditions still dirty in the first session of the day, the 30-year-old MV Agusta rider finished in a strong fourth place. But that was not enough, because in the afternoon, when the track was already in much better condition, Schrötter was even close to setting the fastest time of the day. In the end, he ended up in P4 again, but only a razor-thin of 0.079 seconds behind world championship leader Nicola Bulega, who won both races last weekend in Australia.
On Saturday, as usual, the Superpole at 09:55 local time (02:55 CET) is on the agenda, which will decide the starting grid, as well as the first race of the weekend with a starting time at 12:00 local time (05:00 CET). "I am more than happy with this start to the weekend and at the same time relieved after being a bit unsettled beforehand. I had the Moto2 weekend a year ago in my mind when we had to deal with some difficulties. So, I did not know how I would cope with the track this time. But we also knew what the problem was. Still, it was good to be in front in both sessions today and close the gap to the absolute top a little bit. Now we have to continue like this and hopefully we can translate this performance into tomorrow’s Superpole as well and then having a good and consistent race. If we can do that, then I think we have a good chance to have a say at the front."
