Für Marcel Schrötter verlief das zweite Rennen in Aragón nicht weniger turbulent als am Vortag.

Der Rennverlauf führte dazu, dass Marcel Schrötter am Sonntag in den Kampf um Platz zehn verwickelt war. Bis zur letzten Runde hatte der 32-jährige Deutsche viele Positionswechsel in einer grossen Gruppe, führte diese jedoch häufig an. Ein Fahrfehler wenige Kurven vor der Ziellinie kostete ihn schliesslich einige Positionen. Schrötter sah die Zielflagge als 14.

Die Meisterschaft geht in zwei Wochen mit der vorletzten Runde auf dem Circuito do Estoril in Portugal in die Zielgerade.

«Auch wenn es auf dem Blatt Papier nicht danach aussieht, mein Gefühl wird besser und besser. Im Rennen hatten wir zwischenzeitlich eine ordentliche Pace. Dass es am Ende nur der 14. Platz wurde, war dem Chaos der letzten Runde geschuldet. Ich habe wirklich gekämpft und mein Bestes gegeben, weil ich als Erster meiner Gruppe ins Ziel kommen wollte. Zwei Runden vor Schluss habe ich die Spitze in meiner Gruppe Übernommen, weil ich mir ziemlich sicher war, die Jungs anführen zu können. Aber in Kurve eins wurde es eng, als Niki Tuuli innen reinhielt und ich weit abgedrängt wurde. So hat sich die gesamte Gruppe wieder zusammengeschoben. Als erster war Caricasulo da, der mich zwei Kurven später überholt hat. Ich habe sofort einen Konter gemacht, was nicht der einzige war, denn dieses Spielchen zog sich fast eine halbe Runde hin, bis ich in Kurve zehn einen Fehler machte. Ich wollte dort viel Schwung mitnehmen, bin aber über die Curbs gekommen und das hat das Gegenteil bewirkt. Der ganze Drive war weg, sodass auf der langen Geraden gleich mehrere Fahrer links und rechts an mir vorbeifuhren. Von dem her ist die letzte Runde einfach blöd gelaufen. Aber ich wollte unbedingt meinen Kampfgeist zeigen und als Gewinner meiner Gruppe hervorgehen.»

EN: Possible top ten finish missed in last lap

For Marcel Schrötter, the second race in Aragón was no less turbulent than yesterday’s one.

The course of the race meant that Marcel Schrötter was involved in the battle for tenth place on Sunday. Until the last lap, the 32-year-old German rider had changed position many times in a big group though, leading the pack for many times. However, a mistake in riding a few corners before the finish line ultimately cost him a few positions. Schrötter saw the chequered flag in 14th place.

The 2025 Championship enters it’s home straight in two weeks with the penultimate round at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal.

«Even though it does not look like it on paper, my feeling is getting better and better as seen with a decent pace during the race we had. The fact that we only finished in 14th place was due to the chaos on the last lap. I really fought hard and gave it my all because I wanted to finish first of my group. With two laps to go, I took the lead in my group because I was pretty sure I could lead the guys. But things got tight in turn one when Niki Tuuli came inside and I was pushed wide. This caused the whole group to bunch up again. Caricasulo was the first and overtook me two corners later. I immediately passed him back, which was not the only one, because this little game went on for almost half a lap until I made a mistake in turn ten. I wanted to carry on a lot of momentum there, but I went over the curbs and that had the opposite effect because all the drive was gone. So, several riders passed me on the left and right along the long straight. From that point on, the last lap just went badly. But I really wanted to show my fighting spirit and came home on top in my group.»
