Mit der zweiten Station der FIM Supersport World Championship 2024 kehrt die Serie nach Europa zurück. Der Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya ist ein gutes Pflaster für Marcel Schrötter, wie zwei zweite Plätze im vergangenen Jahr eindeutig beweisen.

Marcel Schrötter startete vor vier Wochen in Australien ebenso mit beeindruckenden Leistungen in die neue Saison und kommt als Zweiter der Gesamtwertung auf die Rennstrecke von Montmeló, wo die Gegend vor einigen Jahren seine zweite Wahlheimat war. Der 31-jährige Rennfahrer aus Oberbayern startete seine WM-Kampagne auf Phillip Island mit zwei Podiumsplätzen. Daran will er anknüpfen und angesichts der starken Leistungen in Barcelona im vergangenen Mai, wo sich Schrötter und seine MV Agusta F3 als sehr starkes Paket erwiesen, sind die Erwartungen für das kommende Wochenende etwas höhergesteckt. Schrötter strebt seinen ersten Laufsieg in der Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft an.

Zur Erinnerung: Die neue Saison bringt einige Änderungen im Wochenendprogramm mit sich. Nach nur einem freien Training geht es am Freitagnachmittag direkt in die Superpole. Die Rennen werden wie gewohnt am Samstag und Sonntag ausgetragen, jeweils mit einem 10-minütigen Warm-up am Morgen.

Mit dem kostenlosen Streaming-Dienst «ServusTV On» können Live-Übertragungen im gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum angesehen werden. Die dafür benötigte App lässt sich problemlos auf jedem modernen Fernseher installieren und kann auch über den Browser auf Desktop-Computern, Notebooks, Tablets und Smartphones angesehen werden. «ServusTV On» überträgt alle Rennen und Superpole-Sessions der Superbike-Weltmeisterschaft und ihrer Rahmenklassen Supersport und Supersport300 live, kostenlos und in HD in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Alternativ gibt es einen kostenpflichtigen Live-Stream über die offizielle WorldSBK-Website.

Die FIM Superbike World Championship 2024 umfasst zwölf Veranstaltungen, wobei Barcelona zu einem ungewöhnlich frühen Zeitpunkt als in den Vorjahren stattfindet.

"Barcelona ist definitiv eine meiner Lieblingsstrecken im Rennkalender. Ausserdem habe ich die starken Ergebnisse aus dem letzten Jahr, was mir das Gefühl und eine gewisse Sicherheit gibt, dass unser Motorrad dort sehr gut funktioniert. Ich kann mich also von Anfang an auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren, was die Abstimmungsarbeit angeht. Natürlich gebe ich immer mein Bestes, aber der oben genannte Punkt stärkt mein Selbstvertrauen zusätzlich. Abgesehen davon haben wir in diesem Jahr etwas weniger Topspeed als 2023, das dürfen wir nicht vergessen. Daran müssen wir weiterarbeiten, denn wie wir in Australien gesehen haben, hatten wir einige Defizite."

"Wir haben noch einiges aufzuholen, um wieder ein wenig näher heranzukommen. Bis Magny-Cours im vergangenen September war unsere Elektronik noch etwas offener. Aber ich denke, wir haben das Gesamtpaket stark verbessert, so dass wir in der Lage sein sollten, mindestens auf dem gleichen Niveau zu fahren, und deshalb freue ich mich auf Barcelona, auf Spanien und auf die Gegend dort, die eine Zeit lang meine zweite Heimat war. Ausserdem kann ich es kaum erwarten, am Freitag wieder auf meine Rennmaschine zu steigen und unsere Arbeit fortzusetzen und hoffentlich ein schönes und erfolgreiches Wochenende in Barcelona zu haben."

This weekend, FIM Supersport World Championship returns to Europe with its second stop in 2024 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend, which is a good place for Marcel Schrötter, as two second places last year clearly prove.

Marcel Schrötter also started the new season with impressive performances in Australia four weeks ago and comes to the Montmeló circuit, where the area was his second adopted home a few years ago, in second place in the overall standings. The 31-year-old racer from Upper Bavaria started his world championship campaign at Phillip Island with two podium finishes. He now wants to build on this and in view of the strong performance in Barcelona last May, where Schrötter and his MV Agusta F3 proved to be a very strong package, expectations are a little higher for the coming weekend. Schrötter is aiming for his first race win in the Supersport World Championship.

As a reminder, the new season brings some changes to the weekend’s time schedule. After just one free practice session, it's straight into Superpole for teams and riders in Supersport class on Friday afternoon. The races will be held as usual on Saturday and Sunday, each with a 10-minute warm-up in the morning.

With a free streaming service via «ServusTV On», live broadcasts can be viewed throughout the German-speaking area. The app required for this can be easily installed on any modern television and can also be viewed via the browser on desktop computers, notebooks, tablets, and smartphones. «ServusTV On» broadcasts all races and Superpole sessions of the Superbike World Championship and its support classes Supersport and Supersport300 live, free of charge and in HD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Alternatively, there is a paid live stream via the official WorldSBK website.

The 2024 FIM Superbike World Championship comprises twelve events, with Barcelona taking place at an unusually earlier date than in previous years.

"Barcelona is definitely one of my favourite tracks in the calendar. I also have the strong results from last year, which gives me the feeling and a certain security that our bike works very well there. So, I can focus on the essentials right from the start in terms of set-up work. Of course, I always do my best, but the point mentioned above also boosts my confidence. Apart from that, we have slightly less top speed this year than in 2023, what we don’t have to forget. We have to keep working on that because, as we saw in Australia, we are lacking some deficits."

"We still have some to catch up to do to get a bit closer again. Until Magny-Cours last September, our electronics were a bit more open. But I think we have improved the overall package a lot, so we should be able to ride at least at the same level, and that is why I am looking forward to Barcelona, to Spain and to the area there, which was my second home for a while. Also, I cannot wait to get back on my race bike on Friday and continue our work and hopefully have a nice and successful weekend in Barcelona."
