Marcel Schrötter hatte am Sonntag auf dem Misano World Circuit ein Top-Ergebnis zum Greifen nahe. Beim Versuch, zur Spitzengruppe aufzuschliessen, stürzte der Ducati-Pilot in der zwölften Runde, blieb aber unverletzt.

Hochsommerliche Bedingungen prägten auch den Rennsonntag beim sechsten Meeting der FIM Supersport World Championship in Italien. Aufgrund des im vergangenen Jahr eingeführten Reglements, bei dem die neun schnellsten Rundenzeiten des Samstagsrennens die ersten drei Startreihen bilden, musste Marcel Schrötter das zweite Rennen in Misano als Neunter aus der dritten Reihe starten.

Der 32-jährige erwischte einen guten Start und konnte zwei Positionen gutmachen. Im Laufe der ersten Runde wurde er von einem Konkurrenten überholt und kam als Achter aus der Startrunde zurück. Kurze Zeit später musste er aufgrund eines Zwischenfalls direkt vor ihm, bei dem zwei Fahrer stürzten, den Gasgriff komplett zudrehen. Die Situation kostete ihn mehr als eine Sekunde.

Als Sechster im Feld klemmte sich Schrötter an das Hinterrad seines Franzosen Valentin Debise. Runde um Runde verringerte das Duo den Rückstand auf das Führungstrio. Als die Lücke geschlossen war, witterte Schrötter Morgenluft und hatte nur noch ein Ziel: einen Podiumsplatz.

Marcel Schrötter und sein in Prag ansässiges Team WRP Racing werden am kommenden Wochenende einen zweitägigen Test auf dem neuen Balaton Park Circuit in Ungarn einlegen. Dieser findet im Rahmen einer Track-Day-Veranstaltung statt.

«Ich bin natürlich sehr enttäuscht darüber, wie das Wochenende endete. Ich habe gesehen, dass der Abstand zu den ersten Drei immer kleiner wurde, und deshalb habe ich mehr gepusht, denn ich wollte unbedingt auf dem Podium stehen. Der Sturz tut mir für das ganze Team leid. Jeder gibt immer alles. Wir hätten heute ein Top-Ergebnis verdient gehabt.»

EN: Race crash robs possible top result

On Sunday at Italy’s sun-flooded Misano World Circuit, Marcel Schrötter had a top result within his grasp. However, the Ducati rider crashed on lap twelve while trying to catch up with the leading group but was uninjured.

Hot Midsummer conditions also characterized Race-Sunday at round six of the FIM Supersport World Championship 2025. Due to the regulations introduced last year, in which the nine fastest lap times from Saturday's race form the first three rows of the grid, Marcel Schrötter had to start the second race in Misano from the third row in ninth place.

The 32-year-old German rider got off to a good start and was able to make up two positions. During the first lap, however, he got past by a competitor and came back from the starting lap in eighth place. A short time later, he had to close the throttle completely due to an incident directly in front of him in which two riders crashed. The situation cost him more than a second.

Racing in sixth position, Schrötter clung to the rear wheel of Frenchman Valentin Debise. Lap after lap, the duo reduced the gap to the leading trio. Once the gap was closed, Schrötter sensed the morning air and had only one goal: a podium finish.

Marcel Schrötter and his Prague-based team WRP Racing will take part in a two-day test at the new Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary next weekend. This will take place as part of a track day event.

«I am obviously very disappointed with how the weekend ended. I saw that the gap to the top three was getting smaller and smaller, so I pushed harder because I really wanted to be on the podium today. I feel sorry for the whole team because of the crash. Everyone always gives everything. We would have deserved a top result today.»
