Marcel Schrötter blühte am Sonntag im zweiten Rennen in der Tschechischen Republik erst in der zweiten Rennhälfte auf, als er die Reifenwahl voll ausnutzen konnte und zum zweiten Mal an diesem Wochenende auf dem vierten Platz landete.

Am Ende war der Wettergott den Fahrern der FIM Supersport World Championship am Rennsonntag in Most wohlgesonnen. Nach heftigen Regenschauern am Vorabend und vereinzeltem Regen in der Nacht zuvor, fanden die Fahrer zum Warm-up am Morgen eine halb nasse, halb trockene Strecke vor. Kurz nach Mittag waren die Bedingungen für das zehnte Rennen der Saison aber klar.

Marcel Schrötter, der am Samstag eine starke Leistung zeigte und den vierten Platz belegte, startete auch das zweite Rennen des Weltmeisterschaftslaufs im Nordwesten des Nachbarlandes aus der dritten Reihe als Siebter. Nachdem er gegen Ende des ersten Rennens mit stark abbauenden Reifen zu kämpfen hatte, wählten er und seine Technik-Crew vom Prager WRP Racing Team am Sonntag einen anderen Ansatz.

Obwohl der 32-Jährigen anfangs ein wenig Vertrauen in seine Rennmaschine vermisste und er zeitweise sogar auf den zwölften Platz zurückfiel, machte Schrötter spätestens ab Beginn der zweiten Rennhälfte mächtig Boden gut. Der Ducati-Pilot fuhr die sechstschnellste Rennrunde und hatte bei Zieldurchfahrt nur 1,3 Sekunden Rückstand auf den letzten Podestplatz. Auch der Rückstand auf die Siegerzeit war mit knapp 5 Sekunden zehn Sekunden geringer als am Samstag.

Nächste Station der Meisterschaft ist in drei Wochen der Misano World Circuit "Marco Simoncelli" in Italien.

«Auch das heutige Rennen war sehr gut. Zwei Mal Vierter zu werden, ist etwas, worauf ich ein bisschen stolz sein kann. Ich freue mich, dass wir diese Ergebnisse beim Heimrennen des Teams und vor meinen eigenen Fans erzielen konnten. Nach den letzten Wochen hätte ich das nicht unterschrieben. Aber ich bin hier, um um das Podium zu kämpfen, auch wenn P4 allemal ein ordentliches Ergebnis ist, vor allem an diesem speziellen Wochenende. Vor dem Rennen haben wir uns für den härteren Reifen entschieden, was sich ausgezahlt hat. Es war heute auch ein bisschen kühler, weshalb die Entscheidungen vollkommen richtig war. Allerdings hatte ich zu Beginn etwas Mühe, mich mit dem Motorrad vertraut zu machen und konkurrenzfähiger zu sein.»

«Insgesamt bin ich mit meinem Gefühl für das Motorrad noch nicht ganz zufrieden. Ich weiss, dass in diesem Motorrad viel, viel mehr Potenzial steckt. Ich hoffe also, dass wir bei den nächsten Rennen Fortschritte machen können. Wir sind nicht allzu weit von der Spitze entfernt. Aber wie ich schon sagte, kämpfe ich ein wenig damit, mehr Vertrauen zu finden. Mit ein paar kleinen Schritten können wir um das Podium kämpfen. Ich bin überzeugt, dass wir dazu auch bald in der Lage sein werden. Abschliessend möchte ich dem gesamten Team für seine Arbeit an diesem Wochenende danken. Das Gleiche gilt für die vielen Fans, die gekommen sind, um mich und das Team anzufeuern.»

EN: Another top result to greatly round off home round in Most

Marcel Schrötter only blossomed in the second half of Sunday's second race in the Czech Republic, when he was able to take full advantage of his tyre choice and finished in fourth place for the second time this weekend.

In the end, the weather gods were kind to the riders in FIM Supersport World Championship on Race-Sunday in Most. After heavy rain showers the evening before and scattered rain the night before, teams and riders found a half-wet, half-dry track for warm-up in the morning. Shortly after midday, however, the conditions for the tenth race of the season were very clear.

Marcel Schrötter, who put in a strong performance on Saturday and finished fourth, also started the second race of the championship’s visit to the north-west of neighbouring Czech Republic from seventh spot on the grid in third row. After struggling with a badly tyre drop towards the end of the first race, he and his technical crew from the Prague-based WRP Racing team opted for a different approach on Sunday.

Although the 32-year-old initially lacked a bit of confidence with his bike and even dropped back to twelfth place at times, Schrötter made up a lot of ground from the start of the second half of the race at the latest. The Ducati rider set the sixth-fastest race lap and was only 1.3 seconds behind the final podium position at the finish. The gap to the winning time of just under 5 seconds was also ten seconds less than on Saturday.

«Today's race was also very good. To finish fourth twice here in Most is something I can be a bit proud of. In addition, I am pleased that we were able to achieve these results at the team's home race and in front of my own fans. After the last few weeks, I would not have signed that although, I am here to fight for the podium, even if P4 is a decent result, especially on this particular weekend. Before the race, we opted for the harder tyre, which paid off. It was also a bit cooler today, so the decision was absolutely right. However, I struggled a bit at the beginning to familiarize myself with the bike and to be more competitive.»

«Overall, however, I am still not completely satisfied with my feeling for the bike. I know that there is much more potential in this bike. So, I hope that we can make progress in the next races. We are not too far away from the top. But as I said, I am struggling a bit to find more confidence. With a few small steps, we can fight for the podium. I am convinced that we will be able to do so soon. Finally, I would like to thank the whole team for their work this weekend. The same goes for the many fans who came to cheer on me and the team.»
