Marcel Schrötter fuhr am Sonntag sein letztes Rennen für das in Prag beheimatete Team. Ein enttäuschender 16. Platz war das traurige Ende einer äusserst schwierigen Saison.

Für den 32-jährigen Marcel Schrötter endete die Saison in Estoril vorzeitig, an einem Wochenende, das für den Deutschen mit dem fünften Platz in der Superpole so gut begonnen hatte. Die Freude währte jedoch nicht lange. Die Enttäuschung nach dem Sturz am Samstag, der nicht seine Schuld war, verflog schnell und Schrötter fand schnell wieder zu seiner Motivation zurück, um die verpatzte Saison mit einem guten Ergebnis zu beenden, doch es sollte nicht sein.

Der ehrgeizige Rennfahrer hofft nun auf einen «Last-Minute-Deal» für das letzte Rennen der FIM Supersport World Championship 2025, das in einer Woche auf dem Circuito de Jerez im benachbarten Andalusien stattfindet.

«Natürlich ist es schade, dass unser letztes gemeinsames Rennwochenende so zu Ende gegangen ist. Vor allem, nachdem wir einen guten Freitag hatten, an dem wir in der Superpole wirklich konkurrenzfähig waren. Ich habe mich auch so stark gefühlt wie schon lange nicht mehr. Leider hielt dieser Aufschwung nicht lange an, und auch der Zwischenfall im gestrigen Rennen hatte Auswirkungen. Vor allem war es nicht gut für mein Selbstvertrauen, und die Situation sorgte auch für einige Unruhe. Der Sonntag begann mit einem weiteren technischen Problem im Warm-up. Trotzdem war ich hochmotiviert für das letzte Rennen und wollte alles geben, um mich zumindest mit einem schönen Abschied zu verabschieden. Aber es lief genau umgekehrt. Ich hatte das Gefühl, überhaupt keine Pace zu haben und konnte mit niemandem mithalten. Ich war nie in der Lage, jemanden anzugreifen, der mich überholt hatte. Es ist sehr seltsam, denn ich war viel langsamer als an den Tagen zuvor. Ich kann nur sagen, dass es mir leidtut, dass es so geendet ist. Dieses Kapitel ist nun endgültig abgeschlossen und ich werde versuchen, mich neu zu positionieren. Das Saisonfinale ist in einer Woche. Bis dahin werde ich meine Augen und Ohren offenhalten, um zu sehen, ob ich von einem Team in Jerez als Ersatzfahrer nominiert werde. Ansonsten konzentrieren wir uns voll und ganz auf die Zukunft.»

EN: Part ways with WRP Racing

On Sunday in sunny Portugal, Marcel Schrötter did his last race for the Prague-based team. A disappointing 16th place was the sad end to an extremely difficult season.

For 32-year-old Marcel Schrötter, the season ended prematurely in Estoril today, on a weekend that had started so well for the German rider with fifth place in Superpole. However, the joy did not last long. The disappointment after Saturday's crash, which was not on his fault, quickly faded and Schrötter quickly regained his motivation to end the botched season with a good result, but it was not to be.

The ambitious racer is now hoping for a last-minute deal for the season’s final race weekend of the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship, which takes place in a week's time at the Circuito de Jerez in neighbouring Andalusia.

«Of course, it is a shame that our last race weekend with the team ended like this. Especially after we had a good Friday, where we were really competitive in Superpole and I also felt much stronger than I had in a long time. Unfortunately, this upswing did not last long, and the incident in yesterday's race also had an impact. Above all, it was not good for my confidence, and the situation also caused some unrest. Sunday started with another technical problem in warm-up. Nevertheless, I was highly motivated for the last race and wanted to give everything to at least say goodbye with a nice farewell. But it turned out exactly the opposite. I felt like I had no pace at all and could not keep up with anyone. I was never able to attack anyone who had overtaken me. It is very strange because I was much slower than on the previous days. All I can say is that I am sorry it ended this way. This chapter is now finally closed, and I will try to reposition myself. The season finale is in a week. Until then, I will keep my eyes and ears open to see if I will be nominated by a team in Jerez as a replacement rider. Otherwise, we will focus fully on the future.»
